The Alexander and Stevenson families originated in the Carolinas. Samuel moved to Arkansas and then on to Texas although he kept connections in Arkansas. His son John Alexander was born 27 January 1777. John married Jane Stevenson in South Carolina. She was born 3 April 1779. John died 27 May 1860 and Jane died about 30 March 1873.
